How Fibre is different from DSL?
DSL is dependent on copper wire infrastructure, which is often unreliable and can be slow if you have a bad line or are far away from your local exchange, whereas Fibre transmits data with pulses of light over an optical cable.

These cables are far more reliable than copper wires and can offer much greater connectivity speeds.

Step 01 - Check Fibre coverage
Fibre is still relatively new and currently being rolled out across the country. So you may not have Fibre available in your area just yet. Use our Coverage Map to find out if your area is Fibre ready and which providers are available.

Step 02 - Sign up with Mtronika
In true Mtronika style, we have several affordable Fibre packages to choose from, and have multiple Fibre providers working with us to bring you internet joy. Simply put in your address, and if you're covered, we'll take it from there and get you connected before you can say Fibre.

Step 03 - Fibre installation
There are three basic steps to getting Fibre, which begins with availability in your neighbourhood. Once the provider has done this initial installation, your area would be Fibre ready. The next step is to have a Fibre line brought onto your property. Once you've signed up for Fibre with Mtronika, the relevant provider will be in touch to help you get the Fibre line installed to your premises.

Step 04 - Fibre Joy!
Once you're all set up, just sit back and enjoy faster internet with HD or 4K streaming, faster downloads, and uninterrupted surfing and gaming. And you can even do this wirelessly across supported devices with the Mtronika dual-band AC WiFi Router, which provides an excellent coverage area and operates on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies for future-proof, cutting-edge connectivity.

This will depend on the turnaround for your installation and activation. Once the line has been installed in your premises it can take up to 5 days for the provider to activate your line. As soon as your Fibre line is active, you can be connected to internet joy from Mtronika within 24 hours.

Each provider has a different lead time for installation and activation. If your line is already activated, you'll be connected shortly after you sign up.

How to check if you have Fibre coverage in your area
You can use our Coverage Tool to check if Fibre is available in your area. Simply enter your address and we'll show you which Fibre providers are available in your area.

If you do not have Fibre coverage in your area
If Fibre isn't available in your area yet, use the Coverage Tool to give us your details and we'll let you know as soon as Fibre becomes available in your area.

Are your Fibre packages shaped?
No, all Fibre packages are uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled - There are no usage thresholds so you can use as much data as you like, whenever you like. No throttling or shaping will be applied.

For new Fibre installs
Sign up with Fibre and you can save up to R5000 on setup, activation and hardware costs. Selected providers only.

The overall amount of up to R5000 can be used to offset installation* and hardware costs if you're new to Fibre. If you're signing up for a new connection, the savings will automatically apply upon checkout.

For migrating to Fibre
Migrate to Fibre and you can save up to R5000 on migration fees and hardware costs. Selected providers only.

If you aren't happy with your current ISP and want to experience internet joy, we'll credit your Mtronika account to reimburse you for costs incurred in making the switch! We'll automatically zero-rate migration fees associated with the last-mile provider and then credit your Mtronika account for the termination costs charged by your previous ISP (up to the remaining balance of the R5000 maximum) when you submit a copy of the termination settlement to us.

Should you cancel your Fibre less than 6 months from activation, or your account falls into arrears, you will be charged a cancellation fee of R1,699.

The cancellation policy is NOT applicable to Vuma Reach.

Is there a delivery fee?
A delivery fee of R269.00 will only be charged if you take a WiFi router as part of your order.

When will my router be delivered?
If you need to get a new Fibre line installed, your router will only be delivered once we receive an installation confirmation from the Fibre provider. If you already have Fibre installed, your router will be despatched at the time of your order.

Is the price of the Fibre line included in the package price?
Yes - the price you see is the price you pay! All Fibre packages are bundled, so the price is for both your data and the line rental, all-inclusive.

Will I have to pay a setup fee?
No. If you sign up with Fibre today, you can save up to R5000 on setup costs and we'll send you a Fibre-ready WiFi router at no cost on new installations. Terms and Conditions apply.

Do I need a telephone line to use Fibre?
No! Fibre connects via optical cables that carry data via light, which are completely separate from the Telkom copper wire network.

Can I use my current DSL router?
Probably not, as Fibre works very differently to DSL. But you may, in some cases, be able to use your existing WiFi enabled router to spread your Fibre connection via WiFi. This will depend on which router you have and how the provider installs your Fibre.

Will my Fibre Package be locked to a single location?
Yes, Fibre packages are locked to a single location.

Do you have an Acceptable Use Policy?
Yes, all Fibre packages are subject to our Acceptable Use Policy.

Can existing Mtronika Fibre clients get Fibre?
Yes, existing Mtronika Fibre clients can simply do a package change via nimeZone.
Please note that if you change from an older Mtronika Fibre package to Fibre, you will not be able to change back.

Activation Fees

WiFi Router Provision

A free-to-use WiFi router is included with selected providers only. Certain providers are excluded from the free router promo as a device is already included with installation.

Delivery Policy

A delivery fee of R269 applies for all router deliveries. Routers are dispatched after fibre installation order is confirmed by the last-mile provider.

Service Quality

All packages are uncapped, unshaped, and unthrottled. No usage thresholds or speed reductions apply.

Cancellation Policy

Month-to-month contracts. One full calendar month's notice required for cancellation. If cancelled within 6 months of activation or if account falls into arrears, a R1,699 cancellation fee applies.

Vuma Promo Package

Special promotional packages available to new signups only. Migrations and regrades are excluded. If you move to another package, you cannot revert to the promo package.
